After a recent vacation out into the desert of Joshua Tree, I grabbed a few stills from my sister's DSLR that I had taken. I was essentially riffing off the pictures, compositing or animating what I thought they might like had they come alive. Joshua Tree was amazing, I love the quiet, open space. I also happen to be a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age, and then entire time I had Songs for the Deaf playing (in my head as well as in the car). Original song by me as well.

My favorite part of this video was creating the hand-drawn look, where all the outlines slightly jittered.

The video started from a slide deck we were given from the client. The challenge was to bring those slides to life.

An interesting modeling challenge: bring a 3D feel to an Illustrator file (essentially extrude it). The look ended up being pretty unique.

Also, it's always great when a client is down for you to compose your own song!

Recruitment video, after the client had seen a 3D animated version, they decided they wanted a 2D animation approach. Most assets had to be thrown out, as they also wanted to change the style as well. Background stills created by Neiel Cavin. Characters rigged by me.
